UTOPIA Fiber says it laid over a million feet of conduit and fiber across Utah in 2025, and completed the Bountiful Fiber project ahead of schedule, according to its year-end review.

UTOPIA Fiber reported in its 2025 year-end review that it installed more than a million feet of conduit and fiber across Utah during 2025, including 1,034,194 feet of conduit and fiber, 13,728 feet of aerial strand, and 3,331 new handholes.

The year’s work also expanded access, enabling connectivity for more than 9,000 additional homes and 968 businesses, while adding 6,355 new 1-Gig customers. The company notes that the Bountiful deployment helped push total subscribers past 67,000 across 20 member cities.

UTOPIA said the Bountiful Fiber project was completed a year ahead of schedule, with the network owned by Bountiful City and operated by UTOPIA Fiber.

Executive director Roger Timmerman said the breakthrough demonstrates what’s possible when communities invest in fiber infrastructure: “Completing Bountiful Fiber ahead of schedule and continuing to grow statewide shows what’s possible when communities invest in fiber infrastructure.”

Nicole Cottle, UTOPIA Fiber’s deputy director, described the open-access model as fostering real competition, noting that publicly owned fiber is separated from retail service and multiple private ISPs compete over the same network. She added that customers often reach support representatives in their own communities.

Overall, UTOPIA Fiber has partnered with 19 private ISPs and has helped drive nearly half a billion dollars in fiber projects across Utah and the Western states since 2009.
