Twin Valley announces a $12.3 million investment for 2026 to expand and modernize rural broadband across Kansas, combining private funds with state grant support.

Twin Valley, Kansas’ largest privately owned broadband and communications company, has unveiled a $12.3 million investment for 2026 aimed at expanding and modernizing broadband infrastructure across rural Kansas. The plan comprises $4.7 million in private funding by Twin Valley and more than $7.6 million in grant funding awarded in partnership with the Kansas Office of Broadband Development (KOBD). Grants are funded through the Kansas Broadband Acceleration Grant (BAG) and Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) programs.

Officials from the Kansas Office of Broadband Development emphasize that “reliable broadband is essential infrastructure” for communities, noting that collaboration with Twin Valley and other providers is expanding high‑quality connectivity and strengthening rural Kansas’ future through BAG and BEAD alongside private investments.

A fourth‑generation family business, Twin Valley has spent over 80 years advancing cutting‑edge communications in rural Kansas, distinguishing itself through local service and community investment. The company stresses sustainable growth and long‑term partnerships, underscored by customer satisfaction and annual community donations surpassing $100,000.

The project will shift connectivity away from legacy copper, cable modem, and fixed wireless toward fiber optics and Air Fiber, a next‑generation fixed wireless solution. The upgrade will bring 1,000 homes and businesses onto fiber with speeds up to 8 Gbps symmetrical, while about 6,000 more will gain Air Fiber access up to 500 Mbps.

Twin Valley is also introducing Value‑Based Offers designed to simplify selecting an internet plan. The new packages will include features like network security, parental controls and device prioritization, with additional capabilities such as network failover and scam watch alerts expected to roll out by early summer.

Groundbreaking is underway this week on privately funded segments, with BEAD‑ and BAG‑awarded work to follow upon final contracts and environmental approvals. The fiber build will serve communities including Abilene, Barnard, Burden, Elk Falls, Sedan and Viola, while Air Fiber coverage will extend across Clay, Dickinson, Elk, Lincoln, Ottawa, Riley, Sedgwick, Sumner and Washington counties.

Residents can sign up online or by calling 800.515.3311. Beyond broadband, Twin Valley offers nationwide mobile coverage and a suite of business services such as Managed IT, Cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 and Hosted Voice to help local organizations stay connected and secure.
