Comcast has completed a significant network expansion in Northeastern Pennsylvania, extending multi-gigabit, symmetrical fiber-to-the-premises service to more than 8,800 homes and businesses across Carbon, Luzerne, and Schuylkill counties. The project delivers Xfinity consumer internet and Comcast Business services to communities including Banks Township and Hazle Township, with additional Schuylkill County boroughs and townships now covered.
In addition, the Kaska neighborhood is slated to be connected by spring 2026, as part of the ongoing regional push that has already expanded connectivity to thousands of locations across the region. A parallel effort has also begun in central Columbia County, starting with Mifflin Township and planning to reach over 2,700 locations en route to Bloomsburg and Danville.
The rollout includes retail sites nearby as Comcast notes new Xfinity stores in Wilkes-Barre and Wyomissing, enabling residents to compare plans, including offers such as a five-year price guarantee on internet service and mobile deals.
“It’s important to provide our community with the best options for secure Wi-Fi and affordable mobile, delivering speed and reliability to the parents who work from home, the students who learn online, and the local businesses that serve our community,” said Larry Padora, chair of the Schuylkill County commissioners.
Wendy Dempsey, an Xfinity customer in Middleport Borough, added, “I got the five-year price guarantee and couldn’t be happier with the Wi-Fi speeds.”
Comcast also noted programs to boost adoption, including Internet Essentials and investments in local digital-skills and Wi-Fi access initiatives, underscoring the company’s goal of expanding high-quality connectivity across Northeastern Pennsylvania. In total, past expansions in the region have connected tens of thousands of homes and businesses to reliable, high-speed internet.
