Heather Moyer, CEO of HNM Systems, sat down with Broadband Communities to discuss how artificial intelligence could reshape hiring in the telecom sector. She highlighted branding as a core challenge that keeps many young candidates from considering the industry.
According to Moyer, telecoms have long marketed themselves as a labor-intensive, non-technical field. She argues the industry must reposition itself as a technology-driven sector to attract emerging talent, warning that failure to lead with this narrative could hinder future growth.
Her latest project, Recruit Code, is an AI- and machine learning-powered workflow automation platform that HNM Systems uses as an applicant-tracking system. The tool is designed to automate the recruiting workflow, surface ideal candidates through a proprietary screening process that weighs technical and behavioral skills, and can integrate with popular staffing software such as Bullhorn.
Recruit Code is in a beta phase but already claims to cut time-to-hire significantly and to maintain a high success rate. The platform reportedly reduces hiring cycles by about a quarter and has a claimed 94% success rate for placements, according to its developers.
Beyond product features, Moyer credits Recruit Code with fueling growth at HNM Systems, which she scaled to 25x revenue growth in a few years. She frames the tool as part of a broader shift in workforce development, where AI-enabled consultants help clients maximize impact.
Industry observers say the approach could prompt broader adoption of AI-driven recruitment across telecom, especially as integrations with major ATS platforms expand and the potential to shorten hiring timelines grows more compelling.
