UTOPIA Fiber released results from its 2025 customer satisfaction survey, showing strong approval among about 4,600 subscribers across 20 Utah cities. Growth metrics also highlighted a subscriber base of more than 65,000, up about 20% year over year and more than double since 2020.
Key drivers for choosing UTOPIA include speed and FTTH: 67% cited speed, while 66% pointed to fiber-to-the-home connections. The company noted reliability and overall satisfaction remained high in the survey.
Respondents contrasted UTOPIA with national providers, with 84% saying they dislike or distrust large national internet brands, and 86% noting that having multiple ISPs to choose from influenced their decision to switch. Additionally, nearly seven in ten respondents cited high prices as the main reason for leaving previous providers, with slow speeds, unreliable connections and poor customer service cited as other motivators.
On internal metrics, UTOPIA said 64% of participants rated network reliability as significantly better than their prior provider, and nearly 60% reported noticeably improved video streaming experiences.
UTOPIA Fiber is an open-access network created by a coalition of Utah cities, enabling customers to pick among several private-sector ISPs. Executive Director Roger Timmerman said the survey will guide operations, noting that “Subscribers tell us how they work, stream, game, and connect devices,” and that insights help keep focus on a strong customer experience.
