unWired Broadband announces a $10 million fiber upgrade for Wasco's NextGen Fiber network, targeting completion in February 2026.

Wasco, California — unWired Broadband has unveiled a $10 million upgrade of its NextGen Fiber network in Wasco, with completion targeted for February 2026. The upgrade follows the company’s earlier inauguration of its fiber-to-the-home network in Wasco this past month.

A ribbon-cutting on September 25 drew attendance from Crown Communications Engineering, City of Wasco officials, Kern County Board of Supervisors, the offices of Congressman David Valadao and Assemblywoman Jasmeet Kaur Bains, along with local business owners and residents.

Company executives highlighted the project as a step toward delivering world-class speeds and reliable connections to Wasco residents, with promises that the fiber-to-the-home network will provide symmetrical speeds and no data caps for both residential and commercial customers.

Installations are already underway in select Wasco neighborhoods as part of the broader expansion of unWired’s high-speed connectivity footprint across Central and Northern California. The company operates both a fiber network and a fixed wireless network supported by more than 200 towers.

Officials note that the Wasco rollout aligns with unWired’s long-running strategy to serve areas often overlooked by traditional providers since 2003, emphasizing quick, reliable service with tailored solutions for multi-family residences and commercial sites.

Finish-by date: February 2026. The company plans to continue expanding in Central and Northern California, leveraging its dual fiber and wireless network to extend coverage to more communities.
