Surf Internet announced the deployment of its fiber network to 1,200 homes and businesses in Sparta, Michigan, expanding high-speed internet options in the Kent County town near Grand Rapids.

Surf Internet announced the deployment of its fiber-optic network to 1,200 homes and businesses in Sparta, Michigan, bringing high-speed connectivity to a community located north of Grand Rapids. The fiber service, which includes speeds up to 2 gigabits per second, marks a major upgrade for residents and local businesses.

Officials celebrated the milestone with a September ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Sparta leaders and members of the Surf Internet team. The event underscored the company’s local investment and its goal of expanding reliable broadband across rural and semi-urban areas in Michigan.

Jim Lower, the village manager, welcomed Surf Internet to Sparta, noting that the new option will benefit both residents and businesses. “Introducing reliable, high-speed internet is a key advantage for our community, and we’re glad to have Surf as part of our business landscape,” Lower said, emphasizing the local partnership.

Gene Crusie, Surf Internet’s CEO, echoed the sentiment, saying, “We stood here last year breaking ground, and today families and businesses in Sparta are connected to fiber. This progress reflects why we invest in communities like Sparta—fast, reliable internet changes how people learn, work, and grow.”

Surf’s Sparta service comes with no contracts, unlimited data, and a price-lock guarantee, the release noted. In addition to Sparta, Surf operates a broader footprint across the Great Lakes region, serving communities in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan as it continues expanding its fiber footprint.
