Midco expands its 400G wavelength services for customized business products after strategic network upgrades, highlighting strong demand and end-to-end capacity control.

Midco has expanded its customized business offerings at the 400G wavelength, a move that follows significant investments to increase the speed and capacity of its long-haul fiber network across the Midwest region.

In a statement accompanying the rollout, Midco’s Vice President of Business Sales, Justin Hebda, said the market is responding to a rare blend of capacity, scalability, and reliability. He noted that contracts for 400G solutions have already been closed with multiple businesses seeking to connect core networks to widely distributed locations, underscoring Midco’s ability to provision bespoke, end-to-end capacity on its own network.

Midco also highlighted performance benchmarks tied to its MEF 3.0 certified network. In recent testing, latency from Spearfish, South Dakota, to Chicago, Illinois, registered at under 20 milliseconds, demonstrating both high capacity and low latency at 400G speeds.

Jeff Sanders, Director of Wholesale, added that the company’s long-haul architecture links key locations such as Minneapolis, Omaha, Chicago and Denver, enabling the transmission of large volumes of voice, video and data with reliability at scale. He emphasized that the company’s wholesale team can craft 400G solutions and dark fiber options tailored to data center operators and hyperscalers.

Midco, founded in 1931, operates a 17,000-mile owned fiber network spanning Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The company reports serving more than 1 million homes and businesses with approximately 1,900 employees, positioning it to meet surging Midwest demand for future-ready, high-bandwidth connectivity.
