During a Beyond the Cable appearance at Connected Britain, Ryan O’Hanlon, MDS Global’s VP of Global Sales, highlighted the company’s broad BSS portfolio and its diverse customer base, which includes BT, Virgin Media O2, and MVNOs such as iD Mobile. He noted iD Mobile has grown to more than 2 million subscribers since the company’s early days.
O’Hanlon also revealed that MDS Global supports the Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) platform in South Africa, where the platform serves several verticals, including an agricultural MVNO and digital media brands. MVNE’s own mission is to become Africa’s leading Mobile Virtual Services Enablement partner.
The executive stressed that the business is about more than billing. “The way to innovate is to bring other types of packages in,” he said, pointing to examples like security services for end users and the way new offerings introduce additional metrics for customers to pursue.
O’Hanlon praised PlatformX Communications (PXC) for its aggregated platform and discussed how PXC is already reselling some competitors as it looks to sell the final mile as part of its package. He described this as an example of revenue management and orchestration helping partners become more innovative, not just billing.
Looking ahead, he said MDS Global seeks to help customers scale quickly and innovate widely by supporting orchestration across partners and platforms, enabling new revenue streams and faster growth across diverse markets.
