Lyte Fiber to Build Carrizo Springs Fiber Network

Lyte Fiber announces a $3 million investment to build an all-fiber internet network in Carrizo Springs, with construction slated to begin in the coming days.

Lyte Fiber says construction on a buried 35-mile fiber network in Carrizo Springs will begin within days, the company announced in a Monday release. The project aims to bring high-speed, all-fiber connectivity to roughly 2,000 locations across the city of about 5,000 residents in Dimmit County, near the Rio Grande.

The Carrizo Springs network will deliver speeds up to 10 Gbps and will be buried underground, ensuring resilience for households, schools, and local businesses as the community digital needs grow.

Lyte Fiber’s CEO Carter Old emphasized the broader benefits of the project. “Carrizo Springs deserves the best, and we’re here to deliver it. Whether it’s school, work, or streaming on a Saturday night – Carrizo Springs will be ready,” Old said. The city’s mayor, Mario Ruiz, called the project a game-changer for the local economy, jobs, and access to essential services.

Service for the Carrizo Springs network will be anchored from Lyte Fiber’s South Texas headquarters in Uvalde. In addition to expanding connectivity, Lyte Fiber pledged a 1% giveback to support local schools, nonprofits, and community programs in Carrizo Springs, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the community.

Plans for further expansion in Carrizo Springs are already in motion, with the company signaling continued investment in more buried main lines and broader coverage as part of its long-term strategy for rural Texas communities.
