GCG has announced the acquisition of United Wire & Cable, expanding its Custom Engineered Solutions with UWC’s power cable expertise.

GCG announced today that it has completed the acquisition of United Wire & Cable (UWC), a Toronto-based supplier of proprietary power cable systems serving data center, power, and industrial markets across North America.

UWC will join GCG’s Custom Engineered Solutions group, adding decades of experience and a portfolio including the MAXIAMP cable bus feeder systems and vertical mineshaft cables, while continuing to operate under its existing brand.

Laura-Anne Tredenick and Robyn Baldasti, second-generation owners, said the move will enable better support for customers and suppliers while preserving UWC’s culture and relationships.

GCG CEO Glenn Pennycook described the acquisition as a strategic fit, noting UWC’s differentiated portfolio and deep power-infrastructure know-how as a natural addition to the company’s power and data-center focus.

The deal marks GCG’s 11th acquisition in six years; financial terms were not disclosed. UWC will maintain its brand while gaining access to GCG’s broader supply chain and operational resources, expanding GCG’s presence in mission-critical power markets.
