Since taking the helm in 2024, Aerwave CEO Ed Wolff has steered the company to evolve with residents’ connectivity needs, sharing his outlook on Beyond the Cable, Broadband Communities’ podcast.
Wolff highlighted that the typical multifamily unit now hosts an average of 19 connected devices, accelerating Aerwave’s drive to reimagine in-unit connectivity as a core offering.
About 85% of Aerwave’s business spans retrofits across 175 communities, with a sizable share also in new development. He stressed that the number of devices per unit is not declining—it’s going up.
To stay ahead, Aerwave leans on its user group and advisory board for real-time feedback that informs product updates and a resident-experience focus. The company celebrated Multifamily Partner of the Year at the 2025 Broadband Communities Awards in Houston, a nod to its approach.
Looking to the future, Wolff said Aerwave is well positioned for continued growth in the managed Wi‑Fi space, with emphasis on cross-device integration within units and linkages to asset performance and NOI. “Controlling your own destiny, providing a digital infrastructure, and creating a resident experience that you can’t get anywhere else, is what ultimately yields a competitive advantage,” he stated.
Wolff noted Aerwave’s footprint includes work with roughly 30% of the NMHC 50, underscoring the company’s breadth in the multifamily sector.
