Accenture has agreed to acquire Ookla, owner of Speedtest and Downdetector, from Ziff Davis for $1.2 billion in cash.

Accenture has agreed to acquire Ookla, the company behind Speedtest and Downdetector, along with Ekahau and RootMetrics, from Ziff Davis for $1.2 billion in cash.

The deal will see Ookla’s data products integrated into Accenture’s services aimed at communications service providers, hyperscalers, government bodies, and other clients to optimize mission-critical Wi‑Fi and 5G networks.

Ookla’s platform also includes Ekahau, which offers tools for designing and troubleshooting wireless networks, and RootMetrics, which monitors mobile network performance. Ookla employs about 430 people and reported revenue of roughly $230.7 million and net income of $76.1 million in 2025.

Accenture said it intends to use data from Ookla to help hyperscalers and cloud providers bolster the resilience of AI infrastructure and edge data centers, bolster fraud prevention in banks, perform smart-home analytics in utilities, and optimize retail traffic.

In a statement, Manish Sharma, Accenture’s chief strategy and services officer, said: “Speedtest and RootMetrics define the experience; Downdetector identifies incidents faster; and Ekahau drives digital workplace transformation through superior Wi‑Fi.” The sale is expected to close in the coming months, with Reuters noting Ziff Davis bought Ookla in 2014 for about $15 million.
