Truvista Fiber is highlighting National Safe Digging Month with a simple, safety-first reminder: dial 811 or visit your state's 811 site before digging.

Truvista Fiber is marking National Safe Digging Month by urging customers to dial 811 or visit their state’s 811 website before starting any outdoor digging project, from planting trees to installing fences.

Mike Petty, Truvista Fiber’s chief operations officer, says calling 811 before you dig is free, easy and helps keep services running without interruption, while also protecting safety, property and your relationship with your neighbors.

The provider notes that even small digging jobs can damage buried lines and recommends requesting utility locates at least three business days in advance. Through state 811 services, residents can have underground utility lines marked by professional locators, enabling safe digging practices.

Truvista’s announcement highlights its regional presence, noting it has provided internet, voice, video and security services across South Carolina and Georgia for more than 125 years.

The safety warning covers not only fiber but also electric, gas and water lines, underscoring the importance of coordinating with local utilities before outdoor projects during the spring season.

Residents are encouraged to contact their state 811 service for locates and to visit Truvista Fiber’s website for more information on safe digging practices during National Safe Digging Month.
