TDS celebrates a major milestone as it expands its all-fiber network across Montana.

TDS Telecommunications announced it has connected its 10,000th customer in Montana, marking a milestone as it continues expanding its all-fiber network across the state.

The milestone was celebrated at Helena’s Holter Museum of Art, where technicians completed the museum’s high-speed fiber installation and TDS presented a gift basket and a charitable donation to the institution.

The company said crews are extending fiber in multiple Montana cities, including Helena, Billings, Butte, Great Falls and Missoula, with plans to begin work later this year in the Laurel and Lockwood areas.

In addition, the Montana network is described as capable of delivering speeds up to 8 gigabits per second for residential customers, with business connections available up to 10 gigabits per second. The provider promotes bundled services including a digital TV product, phone service and mobile options and notes ongoing capital investments and community contributions.

Operating in the state as TDS Metrocom LLC, the company was founded in 1969 and remains family-owned.

“TDS’s all-fiber, high-speed internet network is an essential part of keeping people connected, as well as helping businesses and nonprofits like the Holter Museum,” said Drew Petersen, TDS senior vice president of corporate affairs.
