Sertex Broadband Solutions opened a regional office in Sidney, Maine, to support the state’s MOOSE Net fiber backbone build.

Sertex Broadband Solutions has opened a 9,600-square-foot regional office in Sidney, Maine, just outside Augusta, to support construction of the state’s MOOSE Net fiber backbone, according to company officials.

The Sidney facility includes about 7,200 square feet of interior warehouse and office space and sits near Interstate 95 at Exit 113, a location the company said will help stage crews and materials more efficiently across rural and central Maine.

“Establishing a regional office shows our long-term commitment to Maine and to the communities MOOSE Net will eventually serve,” said Sertex founder and CEO Michael Solitro.

Sertex was awarded the design-build contract for MOOSE Net in 2025 and is responsible for constructing roughly 450 miles of the project’s 530-mile fiber backbone, including network design, engineering, permitting and the construction of extended rural fiber spans in challenging terrain.

On-the-ground activities will span aerial and underground construction, fiber splicing and termination, and comprehensive network testing, with construction expected to continue for about two years and field crews operating in multiple regions of the state. The project is framed as critical infrastructure to bring affordable, reliable broadband to underserved rural communities across Maine. Some AI tools assisted in the crafting of this report.
