Tarana Wireless announced a $1 million upgrade to AeroNet Wireless infrastructure in Puerto Rico, aiming to accelerate island-wide expansion and deliver fiber-like speeds.

Tarana Wireless announced a strategic investment in Puerto Rico’s AeroNet Wireless, directing $1 million toward upgrading the carrier’s infrastructure and positioning AeroNet for island-wide expansion.

The upgrade centers on Tarana’s G1 ngFWA platform, which Tarana says can overcome traditional wireless challenges through advanced interference cancellation and non-line-of-sight capabilities.

Puerto Rico’s mountainous terrain has long posed a hurdle for connectivity, but the G1 ngFWA solution is designed to reach rugged areas and broaden AeroNet’s service footprint on the island.

Gino Villarini, founder of AeroNet Wireless, said the investment underscores the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of connectivity innovation. “As a 100% Puerto Rican company, we understand our island’s unique connectivity challenges, and our customers deserve nothing less than the most advanced, reliable broadband technology available,” he said. “These speeds put us on par with fiber-optic service, delivering a seamless experience and even greater reliability.”

Tarana described the investment as a stepping-stone toward island-wide coverage, emphasizing benefits for end users, including faster, more reliable service and improved performance in challenging terrain.

Industry observers say the partnership aligns Tarana’s open, scalable ngFWA technology with AeroNet’s expansion strategy, potentially accelerating Puerto Rico’s digital transformation by extending high-speed wireless broadband to underserved areas.
