T-Mobile is reportedly pursuing the acquisition of U.S. Internet (USI), a Minnesota‑based provider with a fiber footprint around Minneapolis.
The deal, first reported by Cord Cutters News, would see USI customers transition to T-Mobile on or after September 2, subject to regulatory clearance. A closing date has not yet been set.
Financial terms have not been disclosed, and neither company has issued public confirmation of the transaction, according to subsequent reporting by Datacenter Dynamics.
USI has provided wireless internet service to Minneapolis since 2008. The company’s first fiber customer went live in 2010, with a 10‑Gig customer following in 2015, according to USI’s site. The provider also describes itself as “a progressive partner with a progressive city.”
Analysts say the potential deal aligns with T-Mobile’s broader push into fixed wireless and fiber‑based services, though regulatory review remains pending.
