Midco has completed the acquisition of Savage Communications Inc., known as SCI Broadband, expanding its Minnesota fiber footprint and accelerating growth plans.

Midco has completed the acquisition of Savage Communications Inc., doing business as SCI Broadband, to broaden its fiber footprint in Minnesota.

The deal expands Midco’s Minnesota network and positions the company for additional fiber upgrades in the state. By year-end, SCI’s network is expected to reach about 28,000 passings, up from roughly 12,000 data customers served previously.

“We are excited to officially welcome the SCI Broadband team into the Midco family,” said Pat McAdaragh, Midco Chair and CEO. “To our new customers, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve you. Our Midco Customer Commitment extends to you, and we look forward to preserving the best-in-class experience SCI delivered.”

As part of the integration, SCI employees received offers to join Midco. Midco notes that the acquisition advances its strategy of fiber expansion, upgrades, and convergence, with plans to expand into new Minnesota markets in 2026. In the meantime, Beyond Gig upgrades are delivering higher symmetric speeds to more homes and businesses, and Midco Mobile is slated to launch by year-end.

Over the next three years, substantial investments are planned for the SCI network to enhance residential and business offerings, including fiber-to-the-premises upgrades, faster speed tiers, the launch of MidcoTV, and a stronger core network. Midco, founded in 1931, operates across more than 1 million homes and businesses on over 17,000 fiber miles across Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
