Mediacom Communications board named Giuseppe B. Commisso as vice chairman and interim chief executive officer, stepping into the top post just days after founder and longtime CEO Rocco B. Commisso died.
Commisso has spent nearly 20 years with the Iowa-based broadband operator, most recently serving as group vice president of corporate finance and a member of the company’s board.
Rocco B. Commisso guided Mediacom for nearly five decades, helping shape aspects of the regional cable industry, according to a release from Mediacom Communications.
In remarks about his new role, Giuseppe Commisso described the appointment as both an honor and a responsibility, saying he intends to work with Mediacom’s management team to maintain service for customers and to “execute on [his father’s] vision with integrity and dedication.” The statement underscored continuity in strategy for the near term while he serves in an interim capacity.
Outside Mediacom, Giuseppe serves on the board of ACF Fiorentina, the Serie A club in Florence, Italy, and brings an engineering and finance background to the job.
The company has not announced a timetable for a permanent successor, with leadership emphasizing stability and ongoing strategy during this transition period.
