C Spire wraps Mississippi CPF fiber rollout

C Spire confirms completion of Mississippi's Capital Projects Fund fiber deployment, delivering high-speed home internet to thousands while targeting underserved areas.

C Spire announced this week that it has completed its portion of Mississippi’s allocation from the federal Capital Projects Fund, delivering home fiber access to more than 14,000 residences and to 18,530 undeveloped lots across several counties.

The work spanned communities from Amite to Lincoln counties, with projects extending into Lamar, Madison, Desoto and Hinds counties. The company noted that some corridors were aimed at underserved areas within the state.

Funding came through a U.S. Treasury grant program with Mississippi’s CPF administration handled by BEAM, the Office of Broadband Expansion and Accessibility. Mississippi received $164 million to deploy infrastructure capable of symmetrical speeds of 100 Mbps or higher.

C Spire said the CPF project was completed ahead of schedule and on budget, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to expanding wired and wireless connectivity for Mississippians.

“Strengthening communities in meaningful ways” is how Suzy Hays, C Spire’s president and CEO, framed the achievement, noting the expanded fiber network is positioned to support demand for high-speed internet-enabled smart homes, AI-enhanced experiences, and 5G connectivity.

State broadband officials praised the effort. BEAM Director Sally Doty described C Spire’s execution as delivering immediate economic value and strengthening the connectivity that will support innovation, workforce growth, and future investment.

In a broader update, C Spire also reported a substantial fiber expansion in the past year: a $60 million investment, 1,000 miles of new fiber bringing the statewide total to 12,200 miles, and service reaching 217,900 homes. The expansion covered areas including Hinds and Tate counties and cities such as Meridian, McComb, Columbia, Southaven and Philadelphia.

C Spire positions itself as the largest privately held U.S. wireless carrier and a leading fiber internet provider in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, offering fiber networks, 5G wireless service and cloud and AI solutions for businesses.
