The Wireless Broadband Alliance announced leadership changes to its board, naming Boingo Wireless’s chief technology officer as chair and AT&T’s In Building Solutions executive as co-chair.

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has revealed a leadership transition on its board, appointing Dr. Derek Peterson, Boingo Wireless’s chief technology officer, as chairman. Cameron Dunn, AT&T’s assistant vice president for In Building Solutions, was named co-chair of the board.

Peterson, who has been an active WBA board member since 2012 and previously served as co-chair and acting chair in July 2025, will now lead the board and steer its strategic direction. The WBA highlighted his ongoing influence in shaping the organization’s activities and industry collaboration.

In Boingo’s framework, Peterson oversees the company’s technology strategy and innovation, championing the deployment of next-generation wireless technologies including 5G, Passpoint, CBRS private networks, and Wi‑Fi 7.

Dunn brings more than 25 years of experience in mobile telecommunications to the board, with a track record of driving end-to-end mobility initiatives from concept to execution, according to the WBA release.

Tiago Rodrigues, WBA president and CEO, welcomed the appointments saying Peterson has been a driving force in shaping the alliance’s strategy and advancing the Wi‑Fi industry over the past decade. Rodrigues noted that Peterson’s leadership and technical acumen have helped strengthen collaboration across the global ecosystem.

Established in 2003, the WBA’s mission remains to unite industry leaders to advance the development and adoption of next-gen Wi‑Fi technologies. The organization continues to prioritize NextGen Wi‑Fi, OpenRoaming, 5G and 6G, IoT, smart cities, testing and interoperability, as well as policy and regulatory affairs.
