AT&T guides a public-private initiative to bring fiber to four rural Wisconsin towns, advancing efforts to close a long-standing digital divide.

AT&T is advancing a public-private push across four rural Door County communities in Wisconsin to close long-standing digital divides with fiber investments.

In Egg Harbor, Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay, and the Village of Egg Harbor, the projects total more than $24 million and are expected to reach more than 5,400 locations with fiber connectivity.

AT&T notes that fiber is already available to about 350 addresses in the Town of Egg Harbor, with construction continuing to serve the remaining locations.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers highlighted the importance of affordable, high-speed internet, saying: “From running a business and doing homework to talking with your doctor, having affordable high-speed internet is a necessity in the 21st century. It’s not a luxury anymore.”

Door County’s rural character underscores the challenges of broadband access, and the rollout is supported by public funds aimed at narrowing the digital divide. Officials expect Egg Harbor Village’s segment to finish by spring 2027, with the other communities slated for completion within approximately two years, through 2026.”
