GeoLinks and Intracom Telecom today announced the results of a landmark field trial conducted at WISPAPALOOZA 2025 in Las Vegas, demonstrating multi-gigabit fiber-like performance on Intracom’s fixed wireless access platform and validating GeoLinks’ FCC-licensed LMDS spectrum for nationwide WISP deployment.
The live demonstration connected terminal devices across Las Vegas, delivering 1.6 Gbps aggregate throughput over a 5-mile distance in the 29/31 GHz band, proving that licensed mmWave FWA can provide an interference-free, fiber-like experience.
As the largest LMDS license holder, GeoLinks says its spectrum portfolio is now fully available to WISPs, enabling fixed wireless operators to extend high-capacity services across 1,300 U.S. counties within GeoLinks’ footprint and beyond. Fully available to WISPs.
GeoLinks CEO Kevin Hetrick commented: “GeoLinks is redefining what’s possible in fixed wireless. Coming out of WISPAPALOOZA, the message is clear: The technology and spectrum are available right now for WISPs to accelerate deployment, eliminate interference, unlock new revenue opportunities, and deliver fiber-like, enterprise-grade service to the communities they serve.”
Intracom Telecom USA CEO Kyriakos Vergos added: “Our WiBAS G5 Smart Base Station, paired with GeoLinks’ licensed spectrum, enables reliable, multi-gigabit performance over long distances, delivering fiber-grade connectivity to markets that lack affordable fiber.”
Industry observers say the trial represents a significant step in scaling licensed LMDS for fixed wireless, potentially enabling rural and suburban communities to access fiber-like speeds without fiber deployment costs.
