Greenlight expands fiber builds NE Pennsylvania

Greenlight Networks has announced a faster fiber-build program in Northeast Pennsylvania, boosting projects in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and nearby towns after acquiring Loop Internet.

Greenlight Networks announced it will accelerate the construction of its fiber internet network across Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and nearby communities in Northeast Pennsylvania next year, as part of a post-acquisition expansion plan.

Backed by more than $24 million in investment, the expansion follows the 2025 acquisition of Loop Internet and aims to deliver multi-gigabit service to more households and businesses throughout the region.

Company materials indicate approximately 42,500 households and businesses in Northeast Pennsylvania can currently access Greenlight’s network, with several thousand more slated to gain access by year-end. Construction is being carried out in phases across Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Nanticoke, Drums, Hazleton, Kingston, and Mountain Top.

The Loop Internet acquisition, now operating under the Greenlight Networks name, added over 50 local employees and local Scranton-based operations. The company has highlighted partnerships such as an eight-building fiber upgrade in Blakely Borough and service to the Toyota SportsPlex, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ practice facility.

Beyond the Northeast, Greenlight asserts it serves more than 320,000 households and businesses across New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland, and it has signaled plans to expand further with the planned FastBridge Fiber acquisition in 2025, expected to close mid-2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
