DVFiber Expands Fiber to Five Vermont Towns

DVFiber awards a $1.58 million FTTH expansion contract to Sertex, extending high-speed fiber internet to five Vermont towns.

DVFiber, the Deerfield Valley Communications Union District, has awarded Sertex Broadband Solutions a $1.58 million contract to extend fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service across five southeastern Vermont towns: West Brattleboro, Dummerston, Marlboro, Newfane, and Guilford. The project encompasses roughly 60 miles of new fiber construction, with construction commencing immediately and a target completion date of August 2026.

The expansion builds upon Sertex’s established partnership with DVFiber and Great Works Internet (GWI) to deploy the GPON FTTH network, which currently serves nearly 5,000 locations, including 4,290 locations previously without adequate service. The original rollout began in May 2023 and was completed in 2025; the current expansion is designed to broaden universal access across the region.

Patrick Moreland, Executive Director of DVFiber, stated, “We are excited to keep this project moving forward and happy to be working with Sertex for another year. Their proven performance in challenging environments has been critical to our ability to expand our network across the rural terrain of southeastern Vermont.”

The three-phase expansion plan will unfold through August 2026 and includes: Phase 1 — 18.39 miles of backbone and fiber service areas in Marlboro and Guilford; Phase 2 — 15.58 miles in Dummerston, including underground work along North Pond Road; Phase 3 — 24.10 miles in Newfane and West Brattleboro, plus backbone segments. Upon completion, DVFiber’s upgraded infrastructure will reinforce its aim of universal, affordable, high-speed broadband for rural and historically underserved communities.

Michael Solitro, CEO and founder of Sertex Broadband Solutions, commented, “This award underscores the trust we’ve earned by delivering complex fiber builds in challenging environments and restoring service quickly when outages occur.” He added that DVFiber’s expansion will bring the region closer to universal access with a robust FTTH footprint, totaling about 360 miles of FTTH infrastructure after the project is complete.
