Comcast, in partnership with the Indiana Broadband Office, announced the completion of a statewide fiber broadband project that expands access to more than 4,600 previously unserved locations across about 550 miles of fiber, bringing reliable, high-speed internet to residents and businesses in multiple Indiana communities.
The initiative covers Bartholomew, Carroll, Fayette, Hamilton, Johnson, Marshall and Morgan counties, with additional households and firms in LaPorte and Porter counties connected in a broader collaboration with the state. The work was supported by the Indiana broadband grant program, which aims to improve internet access and adoption statewide.
In outlining the project’s scope, Comcast highlighted a multi‑million‑dollar investment designed to expand the state’s fiber network and close gaps in both urban and rural areas, aligning with state priorities to reach unserved and underserved communities.
Indiana Secretary of Transportation & Infrastructure Matt Ubelhor said the goal is to ensure every resident has access to high‑speed, reliable internet, noting that achieving this will require ongoing collaboration among policymakers, local leaders, and service providers — with this investment, Comcast advances that effort.
Over the past three years, Comcast has invested more than $634 million to upgrade its Indiana network and complete new construction that reaches thousands of residents and businesses in rural areas. The company also recently connected LaPorte and Porter counties as part of its state partnership, expanding impact beyond the counties originally highlighted.
Looking ahead, Comcast plans to continue delivering next‑generation network coverage to additional unserved and underserved areas in Indiana through private funding and public–private partnerships, including participation in the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. Comcast Business supports local employers with a portfolio of connectivity, cybersecurity, and networking solutions.
statewide, Comcast operates more than 49,000 miles of its next‑generation network across Indiana, along with more than 715,000 Wi‑Fi hotspots, underscoring the company’s broader commitment to economic mobility and digital inclusion in the state and nationwide.
