AT&T has announced plans to relocate its Texas headquarters from Downtown Dallas to Plano, where a new campus is planned for a site on Legacy Drive.
The proposed campus will span 54 acres and is slated to begin construction with partial occupancy expected by 2028.
According to WFAA, the Dallas ABC affiliate, AT&T employs roughly 10,000 people in North Texas, underscoring the scale of the relocation for the region.
The move signals a shift in the company’s footprint in the Dallas area, with Plano located about 20 miles north of Downtown Dallas. The city’s new campus is intended to bolster Plano’s business profile as a technology and corporate hub.
AT&T first arrived in Texas in the 1990s after relocating from St. Louis to San Antonio, and the company moved to Dallas in 2008. The Downtown Dallas area may feel the economic impact of the shift as the company transitions to its new Plano campus.
