Astound Business Solutions has completed a major fiber network expansion that connects 111 8th Avenue in New York City to 21715 Filigree Court in Ashburn, Virginia, spanning more than 300 miles.
The project adds 33.6 terabits per second of additional capacity along the East Coast and supports wavelengths from 10 gigabits per second (G) to 800G, equipping the network to handle ultra-high-speed connectivity and future demands.
The new route provides a lower-latency backbone for enterprise and media services between New York and the Ashburn–Washington corridor by avoiding congestion points near Philadelphia and select urban hubs in New Jersey.
Beyond serving Astound’s direct customers, the build expands capacity for the broader ecosystem by delivering an alternate path for large data centers in Ashburn, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
“We initiated this expansion specifically to deliver diverse data transport options for enterprise and media customers who increasingly require extensive and reliable connectivity between New York and Washington, D.C.,” said Paul Koss, Astound President, Business Solutions. “By reducing provisioning complexity and leveraging automation, this new route enables rapid deployment of advanced services and accelerates implementation timelines for commercial entities, all while maximizing efficiency and performance.”
